Got this done at Solid Ink in Tallahassee, Florida, by Rick. Seriously the BEST POSSIBLE tattoo experience I could have asked for, and I recommend that anyone in the area goes to them. Really clean, really friendly, really awesome work.
The full quote that this tattoo is derived from is: “I’m here. I love you. I don’t care if you need to stay up crying all night long. I will stay with you. If you need the medication again, go ahead and take it—I will love you through that, as well. If you don’t need the medication, I will love you, too. There’s nothing you can ever do to lose my love. I will protect you until you die, and after your death I will still protect you. I am stronger than Depression and Braver than Loneliness and nothing will ever exhaust me.”
The tattoo, to me, has two separate but equally important meanings. The first is to constantly remind myself that I am capable of defeating my own demons. Having struggled with self-mutilation and post traumatic stress for most of my life, I sometimes forget that I am bigger than my problems. But the truth is that I can get through ANYTHING, and the tattoo will always be there to tell me that.
Secondly, it’s a reminder to my family and friends. I am also stronger than THEIR depression, and braver than THEIR loneliness, and I will always be there for them if any of them ever need me.
I don’t use Tumblr much anymore, but you can feel free to add me on Facebook.
